The Advisory Committee shall be appointed by the President of the Board. The advisory committee does not have any formal legal responsibility. The advisory committee is convened by the organization to give advice and support. This committee shall consist of a chairman, who shall be a Member of the Board of Directors, and two (2) or more Members of the Association.
Civic Interest Committee
The civic interest committee shall monitor and support or oppose zoning changes and other civic and community issues pending or being considered by Federal, State, or local governmental authorities or other organizations affecting Columbia Heights Village or neighboring areas.
The communication committee shall prepare a periodic Association newsletter for members of the Association, maintain the association website, and be tasked with other forms of ongoing communication with association members as directed by the board. In addition, the committee shall assist the Board in the distribution of information and other duties deemed necessary by the Board of Directors.
Grounds & Maintenance Committee
Committees meet to discuss suggestions and ideas for neighborhood beautification and landscaping enhancements for the property. The committee will establish an annual budget for these ground improvements and submit to the Executive Board for review and approval. Grounds, improvements and beautification of the neighborhood are limited to property of the Columbia Heights Village only.
New Membership Committee
The Membership Committee welcomes all new members to the Association and community, either personally or through a welcome packet. The Membership Committee is responsible for building and maintaining the Association’s membership. In addition, the committee shall assist the Board in the distribution of information and other duties deemed necessary by the Board of Directors.
Neighbors Helping Neighbors Committee
The Neighbors helping neighbors committee duties include sending cards or flowers to residents that are experiencing crisis or illness. Identifying those in need within the neighborhood. Also assists Membership Committee with welcoming new residents.
The Social Committee shall assist the Executive Board with plans and coordinate special programs and social activities for members of the Association.
Safety & Security Committee
The Safety and Security Committee shall meet with the CHVTA Executive BOD Committee and the Contracted Security firm. Meetings will be scheduled to ensure adequate measures preventive and intervention techniques are being administered for safety and crime prevention for the residents of Columbia Heights Village Apartments. This committee will advise the CHV floor and building safety & security captains.
